Making a phone call is a personal and effective way to have your voice heard by lawmakers.
Identify yourself as a constituent and ask to speak to your representative or senator. (Most likely, they will not be available, but their secretary will take a message.)
Tell them why transit is important to you.
Tell them that because of the state of the economy, rising gas prices, and an inadequate transit network, the state must invest in a capital program that will maintain, enhance, and expand transit to meet every Illinoisan's needs.
You're going to want the numbers for your State Representative and State Senator only. Go to VoteSmart.org and enter your ZIP (full ZIP+4 is most accurate). Then, look at the results under "State Legislative" for your rep and senator in the state houses. Jot down those numbers and come back.

Let us know who you spoke to and if you learned anything from them about their position. Thanks!
