Contact your legislators by phone

Making a phone call is a personal and effective way to have your voice heard by lawmakers.

step 1 Get ready to do the following:

  • Identify yourself as a constituent and ask to speak to your representative or senator. (Most likely, they will not be available, but their secretary will take a message.)

  • Tell them why transit is important to you.

  • Tell them that because of the state of the economy, rising gas prices, and an inadequate transit network, the state must invest in a capital program that will maintain, enhance, and expand transit to meet every Illinoisan's needs.

step 2 Determine who your legislators are:

You're going to want the numbers for your State Representative and State Senator only.  Go to VoteSmart.org and enter your ZIP (full ZIP+4 is most accurate).  Then, look at the results under "State Legislative" for your rep and senator in the state houses.  Jot down those numbers and come back.

step 4 Send us an e-mail.
