Our Vision: Low-Cost, High-Value Enhancements

We already have good transit networks in most cities. Low cost enhancements can pay huge dividends in usability, increasing ridership and lowering the need for operating support:

  • Safer and more attractive bus stops. Clearer locations and signage can lure people who would otherwise drive into riding the bus.
  • Better schedule coordination.
  • More frequent service. Improving service frequency can often lead to huge increases in usage.
  • Integrated fare cards. Integrated fare cards make it simpler for riders to transfer between the different transit options such as commuter rail, mass transit rail, and buses.
  • Better connections between routes and transit types.
  • Signal priority and queue jumping for buses.
