An easy way to see the impact of high oil prices is the price at the pump.

Why transit? Oil Prices

Improving transit is a crucial component in dealing with skyrocketing energy prices.

Oil is in everything we do, either as an ingredient such as in plastics or in the transportation needed to get products to us. Even growing food has become highly oil dependent.

Every year, the world uses more oil than it discovers.  Worldwide production has been flat for the last three years, resulting in huge run ups in the price.  As oil gets more expensive every thing we buy gets more expensive.

Since roughly two thirds of our oil consumption is for transportation, we can achieve huge cost reductions by making transportation more efficient.

The best way to make transportation more efficient is to convert trips to walking, biking and transit.
